Egypt Clusterbuster Slot Review: Scarab Unlocks and Super Symbols

Egypt Clusterbuster™ game artwork by Red Tiger

Egypt Clusterbuster links 9×9 cascading clusters to a locked 3×3 centre. Adjacent wins open its outer tiles; clear the ring to release the scarab and unlock an orb. Centre damage resets each spin, but feature access persists, giving cluster wins a second progression role.

Cascades work around a locked centre

The game uses a 9×9 cluster-pay layout rather than paylines. Symbols in winning combinations vanish, allowing replacements to fall and potentially create further wins in the same spin. A locked 3×3 area sits in the centre. Its outer tiles unlock when a winning cluster forms adjacent to them; break all outer tiles to reveal the prize in the central cluster. At the start of every spin, the inactive Clusterbuster resets, so progress toward opening it does not carry from one base spin to the next. That reset sharply defines the loop: the player must clear the perimeter in one cascade sequence to release the scarab.

Releasing the scarab unlocks an orb feature, which activates on the following spin. Green is available from the outset and can create up to three 3×3 Super Symbols, all of one symbol type. Blue can add up to three 3×3 Super Wilds. Red places a 3×3 Super Wild that, after a win, transforms into nine scarabs that act as Wilds. Purple adds a multiplier to the Red-style Super Wild; when its Wilds are involved, that multiplier applies to the related wins. The order is fixed: Green, Blue, Red, then Purple. Once unlocked, features may occur randomly on later spins, and multiple unlocked orbs can activate together.

Persistent unlocks and the Free Spins route

Feature unlocking is separate from each spin’s temporary tile progress. After an orb feature is unlocked, the scarab is enclosed again for another attempt at the next unlock, and the feature can be randomly triggered in future spins. The scarab does not stay released after activation. Once Blue, Red and Purple are all unlocked, the Free Spins scarab is placed in the centre; releasing it awards ten spins. During Free Spins, the Clusterbuster itself does not appear and the round cannot retrigger. Instead, the rules state that colored orb features have an increased chance of activating, letting the accumulated unlock progression shape the bonus without repeating the centre-clearing task.

This progression creates a notable tension: a spin can advance toward an unlock only by clearing the centre’s perimeter in its own cascade, but the completed unlock changes later spins and can combine with previous ones. Free Spins come only after the three later orbs have been unlocked and the scarab released again. There is no carryover of partially opened centre tiles, and no stated way to retrigger the ten-spin round. The source also contains a separate Bonus Buy description that appears to describe unrelated number-grid rules, so it cannot safely establish a purchase price or feature-buy mechanic for this game.

Figures and an unresolved RTP

The game page lists 95.71% RTP, volatility index 13.71, a 6,656x maximum and release on 26 September 2024. The Evolution catalogue instead lists 95.69% and 92.79%, without mapping either value to a configuration; RTP is unresolved, so check the in-game paytable. A Feature Buy flag appears in the information data, but its Bonus Buy text describes unrelated rules and gives no reliable price or route. Feature probabilities are absent.

The ordered unlock ladder gives cascades a second purpose, but the central ring must be cleared in one spin and its odds are unknown. Tile damage resets even though unlocked features persist.

Strengths and weak points

Strengths

Cluster wins advance a central release objective as well as paying, and the ordered orb ladder gives each later unlock a distinct effect that can persist and combine.

Weaknesses

The centre resets every spin, the ten-spin bonus cannot retrigger, and conflicting RTP records plus an unclear purchase description leave configuration uncertainty.

Our Editor’s View

Clusterbuster links cascades to an ordered feature ladder: adjacent wins open the centre, and releases unlock powers that persist across spins. Free Spins require all later orbs and another scarab release; the ten-spin round cannot retrigger. Centre tiles reset each spin, and clearing odds are unknown. Players who enjoy board-clearing and persistent unlock goals may like the split between temporary damage and lasting access. Conflicting RTP records and unclear purchase details make a local paytable check important.
