Zap Attack! Slot Review: Rules, Features and RTP

Zap Attack! game artwork by Thunderkick

Zap Attack! combines an alien invasion with a Western town, then makes that invasion change the bonus symbol population. Spaceship Wilds can expand with multipliers in ordinary play, while the Free Spins meter records hits on human characters. Completing a collection upgrades a symbol type for the remaining feature. The game therefore has one immediate reel modifier and one longer-term bonus progression, rather than a single interchangeable alien effect.

Spaceships expand with their own multiplier

The board has five reels, five rows and 25 paylines. Matching combinations begin at the leftmost reel and continue across adjacent reels. Expanding spaceship Wilds can cover a full reel and carry a 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multiplier applied to winning combinations in which they participate. A multiplier attached to a spaceship is therefore not an unconditional increase to every visible symbol or every win on the spin.

The ordinary paying cast mixes card ranks with a farmer, grandmother, waitress, sheriff and an alien. Those human characters matter beyond their initial pay values because the bonus can replace a type with the higher-value alien. Before that upgrade has been earned, however, the ordinary symbol remains part of the set. The presentation tells a clear invasion story without establishing that an upgrade has already happened simply because the alien appears on screen.

The opening bonus count depends on Scatters

Three Bonus Scatters award seven Free Spins, four award eleven, and five award fifteen. These are distinct opening allocations. The minimum trigger is not a fifteen-spin round, and the four-spin difference between listed entries should not be converted into an undocumented retrigger schedule. The detailed account establishes the starting table and the separate collection reward described below, without supplying a full Scatter-retrigger rule.

During the feature, the alien uses its zap gun against a human character symbol. Each hit contributes to a collection meter. This adds an objective lasting beyond the current payline evaluation: individual hits count towards a later change, even though they are not described as awarding a fresh Free Spin on every occurrence. The meter makes progress visible, but the next hit remains an event the player cannot select.

Ten hits change a type for the remaining feature

After ten hits, one symbol type changes into the high-value alien for the rest of the round, and one additional Free Spin is awarded. The threshold combines a duration reward with a change to the future symbol set. It is more specific than saying all human symbols are upgraded immediately: the rule identifies one type per completed collection, while the transformation lasts only for the current bonus.

This persistence can make a completed meter relevant to later spins, but it does not guarantee that enough alien symbols form a winning line. The current official card lists 96.15% RTP and high volatility; the exact-game detailed review states a 5,000x stake maximum. Expanding Wild multipliers, the collection upgrade and that overall ceiling describe different parts of the game. None supplies a probability that the next seven-spin entry will reach a particular outcome.

Strengths and weak points

Strengths

The ten-hit threshold has two clear rewards: another spin and a persistent symbol upgrade. This gives bonus collection a different purpose from the immediate spaceship Wild multiplier.

Weaknesses

Ten hits are required before the collection reward, and only one symbol type changes at that milestone. A completed upgrade still needs matching paylines; the detailed Scatter-retrigger schedule is unstated.

Our Editor’s View

Zap Attack! gives its alien theme a practical role by turning collected hits into a change that lasts through the bonus. Its strongest distinction is separating that persistent upgrade from the spaceship’s immediate multiplier effect. The limitation is that reaching a collection threshold and using the resulting symbols for a win are separate requirements. Readers who like a conventional line board with a visible bonus objective may find it easy to follow, provided they read the seven, eleven and fifteen starting spins accurately and do not treat every zap as an immediate extension.
