Sugar Merge Up™ builds on merge mechanics: adjacent groups of four or more symbols win, then some symbols disappear while others advance to the next level. The ninth-level cluster creates a Bubblegum symbol, which explodes nearby symbols and becomes a Scatter. Marked cells also gain multipliers when later wins occur, and those cells persist through Free Spins. The combination makes board position and symbol level matter together, but its very high volatility means that a higher merge or a full grid of multipliers is not a routine result.

Clusters climb through nine symbol levels
The game uses Cluster Pays rather than a fixed line count. Four or more identical adjacent symbols form a winning cluster. After payment, some symbols from that cluster disappear and others become symbols of the next level. There are nine main symbol levels, with Scatter as level ten; the win amount depends on the level and number of merged symbols. This means a cluster can change the board twice: it pays, then alters which symbols remain and what level they occupy.
When a winning cluster forms, its cells become marked. If a later win occurs in a marked cell, it receives a ×2 multiplier; each new win in that cell increases the multiplier by ×2, up to ×128. Several multipliers within one cluster add together. Marked cells last until the end of a base-game spin, but in Free Spins they remain marked until the feature ends, and multiplier progress continues. The same cell mechanic therefore resets with the ordinary spin but can develop across the bonus.
Bubblegum turns a high-level cluster into a Scatter
A winning cluster made from eighth-level symbols creates one Bubblegum. It explodes eight surrounding symbols, filling the vacated spaces with new symbols, and then turns into a Scatter. Cells whose symbols were destroyed increase their multiplier by one stage—for example, ×2 becomes ×4. This effect connects merging, space creation, Scatter generation and cell growth in one event. But the blast affects nearby symbols, not an unlimited area, and the source specifies eight neighboring symbols rather than a general screen clear.
Three, four, five or six-plus Scatters trigger 12, 15, 20 or 30 Free Spins. Three or more Scatters in one spin during the feature add five spins. The Buy Bonus offers a standard round, one with ×2 starting in each cell, or a feature with three to nine starting bombs that generate multipliers transferred into the bonus. Random Booster adds multipliers up to ×128 each spin; Booster ×16 fills the grid with ×16 values from the first spin. Chance ×2 raises the chance of the Bonus but is disabled while Buy Bonus or a Booster mode is active. These options change the starting board or access, not the requirement to form winning clusters.
Configuration and risk
BGaming lists 97.00% RTP, very high volatility, Cluster Pays, maximum multiplier ×10,000 and maximum win €250,000. The release date is March 31, 2026. The provider’s ×128 cell multiplier is a feature-specific maximum, separate from the listed game maximum. Operator settings may differ. Very high volatility is a material limit for a game whose larger merges and cell progress depend on successive cluster events.
Strengths and weak points
Strengths
Merge levels, Bubblegum explosions and marked cells interact directly: a high-level cluster can create a Scatter and increase neighboring cell progress while later clusters continue the chain.
Weaknesses
The key effects require particular cluster levels and later wins in marked cells; the game is very high volatility, and paid starting modes do not ensure a winning sequence.
Our Editor’s View
Sugar Merge Up™ ties several mechanics to the same board state. Merging advances some symbols, a high-level cluster can create a Bubblegum that clears eight nearby symbols and becomes a Scatter, and marked cells grow multipliers when later wins use them. Free Spins preserve those cells beyond one spin, while Booster modes can choose a very different starting arrangement. This is a rich system for players who enjoy watching a grid change and tracking specific cell values. Its limitation is that the sequence needs the right clusters and symbol levels, and the game is very high volatility. The buy and booster options provide control over setup, not over whether the following symbols will form wins.
