Riders of the Storm Slot Review: Rules, Features and RTP

Riders of the Storm game artwork by Thunderkick

Riders of the Storm makes a bonus choice central to its identity. Thunderkick offers different combinations of opening spins and Wild multiplier strength, then lets Wilds walk across a five-reel grid through respins. More spins and a stronger multiplier are competing feature profiles rather than one universally superior setting. The rules also distinguish the ordinary multiplier Wild from randomly generated Mystery Wild reels, which do not carry that multiplier.

RTP and stake limits can vary by version and market. Check the information screen in the game you open. Maximum win is a ceiling, not an expected result.

Two Wild systems in the storm

The game uses five reels, three rows and 243 ways, paying matching symbols on consecutive reels from the left. A normal base-game Wild has a 2x multiplier. When it is used by a qualifying way, the applicable winning symbol receives the stated Wild multiplier. The multiplier is not calculated by multiplying together every Wild appearing in that way, so additional Wilds should not automatically be counted as repeated doublings.

A random Mystery Wild Reels feature can turn up to four reels completely Wild. These generated Wild reels have no multiplier, and ordinary Wilds or Scatters do not appear during that feature. This is a meaningful exception: four converted reels should not be interpreted as four separate 2x multiplier reels. Their benefit is substitution coverage, with the remaining matching positions still needed to complete a qualifying ways result.

Choose time or multiplier strength

Three or more Scatters open the bonus selector. Engineer provides fifteen Free Spins with a 2x Wild multiplier; Huntress gives ten with 3x; Captain gives six with 5x. A Mystery option randomises the opening profile. These choices change how the feature is distributed, rather than allowing the player to select winning symbol positions. Fewer high-multiplier spins can finish quickly if the Wilds and ordinary symbols fail to connect usefully.

During Free Spins, a Wild initiates Walking Wild Respins and moves left through successive positions. The sequence continues until one spin after all Wilds have left the grid. No Scatters appear during these respins. After four Walking Wild Respins that introduce new Wilds, further new Wild arrivals stop. These limits prevent the visible walking sequence from being described as an unrestricted process that can keep introducing replacement Wilds forever.

Retrigger limits and RTP follow the mode

Bonus Scatter retriggers can occur outside the walking sequence, with the award depending on the active rules. After three such retriggers, no further Scatters appear during that bonus. This gives the extension system a defined stopping condition. A long walking sequence and a Scatter retrigger are different events, so they should not be combined into an assumption that every extra reel movement also adds a new allocation of Free Spins.

The official page publishes an RTP range of 96.14%–96.15%. The supplier rules assign 96.15% to the medium-volatility bonus option and 96.14% to the other stated options, while the current card labels the overall game Very High volatility. Detailed exact-game coverage gives a 26,426-times-stake maximum. The small RTP difference does not turn one mode into a winning strategy; choose a feature profile with its length and volatility in view rather than treating its multiplier as assured return.

Strengths and weak points

Strengths

The bonus selector offers clearly different spin-count and multiplier profiles. Distinct rules for ordinary Wilds, Mystery reels and walking sequences explain where each feature’s value comes from.

Weaknesses

Mystery Wild reels lack the ordinary Wild multiplier. Walking sequences and Scatter retriggers have explicit arrival limits, while a short high-multiplier bonus can still finish without productive alignment.

Our Editor’s View

Riders of the Storm is most interesting when its bonus selection matters to you as a choice of feature shape, not as a method to control results. Its walking sequences provide continuing Wild coverage, but the exact rules impose limits on replacement Wilds and retriggers. Keep those restrictions visible, use the mode-specific RTP range, and avoid multiplying every displayed Wild value together when the game’s own multiplier rule does not do so.
