Rainbow Princess Slot Review: Cascades and Magic Frames

Rainbow Princess slot artwork

Rainbow Princess builds its central feature across a single spin, then changes what persists when free spins begin. Winning symbols disappear in Super Cascades, Magic Frames can appear on winning grids and grow after contributing to a later cascade, while Aurora Gems multiply the Frames already on screen.

Main featuresSuper Cascades create new cluster chances; Magic Frames progress after contributing wins, Aurora Gems multiply Frames, and scatter bonuses preserve or expand the feature state.

RTP and stake limits can vary by version and market. Check the information screen in the game you open. Maximum win is a ceiling, not an expected result.

Cascades give the frames time to develop

When a winning combination lands, regular paying symbols of the winning type are removed and replacements fall into the gaps. During a spin or cascade, Magic Frame Multipliers may be added to random positions if at least one winning cluster is present. A Frame only activates if its position belongs to a winning cluster. If several Frames contribute to the same cluster, their values add together first and that combined multiplier is applied to the cluster win. This is a cluster-specific interaction, not a multiplier that automatically affects every award on the grid.

Frames stay in their positions while cascades continue. After a Frame is part of a win and that win is paid, its displayed multiplier doubles for the next possible win involving that position on the next cascade. The value can therefore rise through repeated participation during the same spin, but an unused Frame does not get described as doubling just because other symbols win. Once cascades end and the spin’s awards are complete, all Frames are removed. Their progression is temporary in the base game, which gives each new spin a clean state.

Aurora Gem and bonus persistence

An Aurora Gem can land during a cascade and activates before that cascade’s wins are awarded. It multiplies every Magic Frame value then on the grid and is removed after use; the official page allows only one Gem on the grid at a time. The order matters: the Gem modifies the current Frame values before the next award calculation, while Frame doubling happens after a Frame has helped a win. These are different operations and should not be collapsed into one general multiplier effect.

Three scatters trigger ten Tiara Treasure spins. Frames become Sticky and Progressive, keeping their positions and values across the bonus while wins or Aurora Gems can increase them; two scatters during the feature award two extra spins and three award four. Four base-game scatters start Make It Rainbow with the same persistent Frame rules plus a Rainbow Rush Bar. Winning clusters fill it according to the number of winning symbols; once full and the grid settles, it distributes three to five Wilds, resets and can fill again on later bonus spins with new wins. The hidden five-scatter Throne of Starlight starts every position with a Sticky Progressive Frame at a minimum 4x, but otherwise retains Tiara Treasure’s rules.

What the public rules leave open

Hacksaw’s exact page does not state the grid dimensions, payout geometry, RTP, volatility, overall maximum win or calendar release date. It confirms winning clusters but not the complete conditions behind every base-game award. A 100x Frame value and an Aurora Gem of up to 10x are feature values, not evidence of a 1,000x overall award: the page does not explain a universal combined ceiling. The active game’s help screen is needed for numerical configuration and the full paytable.

Strengths and weak points

Strengths

Frame positions create a visible chain of cause and effect: cluster participation grows a value, an Aurora Gem changes current Frames, and free spins preserve that progress.

Weaknesses

Frames matter only when their positions join winning clusters, and base-game progress clears after each spin. The public page omits RTP, grid size and the complete payout geometry.

Our Editor’s View

Rainbow Princess has an unusually legible progression loop: the cascade determines whether a Frame can contribute again, and the bonus determines whether its history survives beyond that spin. Make It Rainbow adds a second track that fills in proportion to cluster size, so the bonus asks the player to follow both grid positions and a bar. Throne of Starlight changes the starting state sharply by seeding every position with a minimum Frame value, yet still relies on winning clusters to make those positions relevant. Our editor sees a strong fit for readers who enjoy tracking several connected states. The limitation is that the official page does not disclose the mathematical setup needed to compare its cluster payouts. Starlight Princess 1000 offers a useful comparison for another princess-themed slot, though its mechanics are distinct.
