Phoenix DuelReels ties its central feature to a specific question: would a VS symbol form or join a winning combination if its reel expanded? If so, the whole reel becomes wild and a duel selects which multiplier applies. A Phoenix loss can then create another spin with a guaranteed VS symbol, making the feature a contest that may continue rather than a single expansion-and-payout event.

The expansion test comes first
A landed VS symbol expands into a DuelReel only if the expansion would be part of or create a winning combination. The expanded reel covers its full height and counts as a wild reel, substituting for every paytable symbol. Two multipliers are attached to the duelists, the Phoenix and Water Dragon; the surviving duelist’s multiplier applies to winning combinations that include that reel.
The multiplier is reel-wide but win-specific: it affects only combinations containing that reel. If several DuelReels share a winning combination, their multipliers are added first. Only one VS symbol can land on a reel at a time.
When a duel becomes a rematch
If the Phoenix loses on at least one DuelReel, a Resurrection Spin is awarded. The rules guarantee that at least one VS symbol lands during this respin. The same process repeats until no DuelReels with losing Phoenixes appear. The feature therefore has a defined stopping condition, but the page does not promise that every rematch will produce a winning combination or that its new duel will favour one character.
The Rise of the Phoenix bonus adds a more specific version of this loop: on its enhanced Resurrection Spins, the number of VS symbols that land equals the number of DuelReels with losing Phoenixes on the triggering spin. This makes the previous duel state determine how many fresh contests appear. That is a rule about symbol count, not a guarantee about surviving multipliers or payouts. In Fire and Water, by contrast, the base DuelReel system simply has a better chance of more VS symbols.
Scatter choices and unknown settings
Three FS scatters start ten Fire and Water free spins; four start ten Rise of the Phoenix spins. Both retain the base features and award two extra spins for two additional scatters or four for three. On entering either bonus, the player may continue directly or choose a Bonus Gamble: up to three of five Phoenix Eggs can be selected, each potentially giving two to ten spins, or a Bonus Upgrade while in Fire and Water. Such an upgrade moves immediately to Rise of the Phoenix with ten spins. The gamble is available once per bonus and again after an upgrade.
The official page omits grid dimensions, numeric payline count, RTP, volatility, maximum win and exact release date. Phoenix Forge offers a different phoenix-themed reel feature for comparison.
Strengths and weak points
Strengths
The expansion gate makes the wild reel conditional and easy to explain, while the losing-Phoenix rule links a duel outcome to a guaranteed rematch. Rise of the Phoenix then scales that link using the prior losing reels.
Weaknesses
A reel expands only when it can contribute to a win, and the survivors’ multiplier affects only combinations containing that reel. Egg gambling adds a discretionary branch without published odds for its outcomes.
Our Editor’s View
Phoenix DuelReels has an unusually readable causal chain: test the VS expansion, resolve a duel on a qualifying full reel, apply the winner’s multiplier to connected wins, then repeat if a Phoenix has lost. The two bonus tiers alter how often the contest appears and how Resurrection Spins are populated, while the Egg choice inserts a separate gamble into either bonus entry. That separation helps readers see what is rule-driven and what remains chance-dependent. The page leaves core configuration values and gamble probabilities undisclosed, so this review can assess the feature logic but cannot responsibly rank the game by return or expected bonus value.
