Lion’s Hoard Slot Review: Diamond Reels and Mystery Stones

Lion’s Hoard game artwork by Red Tiger

Lion’s Hoard turns reel progress into locked symbol groups. Every reel except the middle one has four Diamond Sockets, with two filled at the start. Diamond Scatters fill these sockets; once a reel is complete, it becomes a Diamond Reel of locked Mystery Stones. The stones reveal the same random symbol on subsequent spins and remain until they participate in a winning line. Progress therefore changes the reel itself, but the locked state has a defined exit condition.

RTP and stake limits can vary by version and market. Check the information screen in the game you open. Maximum win is a ceiling, not an expected result.

Socket progress and locked symbols

White Diamond Scatters land on non-middle reels and fill one socket on the reel where they appear. Multiple can land together, even over Mystery Stones or Super Wilds. If a socket is already full, an excess Scatter instead adds one to that reel’s multiplier. Blue Diamond Scatters land only on the middle reel and instantly fill all sockets; on an already full reel, they add a multiplier point instead. One color advances a particular track, while the other can complete all tracks at once.

A completed reel fills with Mystery Stones. On each spin, the stones reveal one identical random symbol. They unlock and leave only when those symbols participate in a win line, at which point that reel’s progress resets to zero. Four small Wilds may merge into a 1×4 Super Wild, which substitutes for paying symbols and remains until it participates in a winning line. This is not a generic screen clear: the qualifying win must involve the locked reel’s revealed symbols.

Multipliers depend on the winning line

Each Diamond Scatter appearing on an active Diamond Reel adds to that reel’s multiplier. It applies to all lines in which symbols from that reel participate. When a line uses symbols from several Diamond Reels with active multipliers, those multipliers multiply one another, up to a combined 96x. A visible multiplier alone does not affect every win; the line must include the corresponding reel. This couples scatter collection to line formation rather than applying a blanket bonus to the spin.

The result is a layered state: sockets fill, a reel transforms, stones persist, scatters can strengthen its multiplier, and a qualifying line clears the stones and resets progress. A reel may therefore accumulate potential without immediately settling. The rules do not give probabilities for completing a reel or forming a line with its symbols, so the sequence is clear but its pace is not.

Configuration and trade-offs

The game has 5×4 reels and 20 lines. Its detailed page lists 95.72% RTP, numeric volatility 21.66 and maximum payout 9,000x; release date is 14 October 2021. The Evolution catalog lists 94.80% RTP and calls volatility high, indicating a different listed configuration. The exact feature entries describe Diamond Reels and multipliers but no Free Spins or Feature Buy, so neither is included here.

The mechanics reward attention to specific reels: progress can become a persistent symbol set, and multipliers matter only if those reels join a line. That connection gives the system more coherence than a set of unrelated scatter effects. Its cost is complexity and delayed resolution. Mystery Stones clear only after a line win involving them, then progress resets; high volatility and configuration differences further limit simple expectations.

Strengths and weak points

Strengths

Progress, locked Stones and multipliers all hinge on reel participation, with a stated 96x cap and a clear win-based reset.

Weaknesses

Locked symbols may take time to join a line; qualifying wins reset progress, and multipliers only affect lines using the active reel.

Our Editor’s View

Lion’s Hoard connects its parts through reel participation. Diamond Scatters build sockets, completed reels lock Mystery Stones, and multipliers apply only when a line uses the relevant reel. The stones’ win-based exit and reset keep persistence from being indefinite, while the possible 1×4 Super Wild gives a reel another way to contribute. But the player must track several non-middle reels and wait for their symbols to join a line. High volatility and the catalog’s lower RTP entry make version checking material. This is a better fit for players who enjoy following state across spins than for those who prefer a single short bonus sequence.
