Legacy of Dead Slot Review: RTP, Expanding Symbol & Free Spins

Legacy of Dead official game artwork

Legacy of Dead uses a classic five-reel book-slot structure and places almost all of its identity inside free spins. One ordinary paying symbol is selected for expansion, giving a familiar symbol a much larger role for the remainder of the feature.

RTP and stake limits can vary by version and market. Check the information screen in the game you open. Maximum win is a ceiling, not an expected result.

How the free spins begin

Three or more Tomb Scatters trigger the bonus. The Tomb also acts as a Wild in regular combinations, substituting for normal symbols when that creates a paying result.

At the start of free spins, one standard symbol is selected at random. When enough copies of that symbol appear, they can expand to cover their complete reels and pay across the active lines. Higher-value selections naturally have stronger potential but are not guaranteed.

The chosen symbol and the active lines both matter

The symbol selection changes which ordinary icon becomes the bonus target, but it does not remove the need to land enough copies for expansion. A valuable selection followed by unhelpful arrangements can therefore be less productive than its paytable value initially suggests. The feature must deliver both a chosen target and qualifying appearances of that target.

Active paylines form the other boundary. Expanding a symbol fills its reel visually, while the award is still evaluated across the lines in play. Comparing two rounds solely by how many full reels appear can overlook a difference in line coverage and stake. Retriggers add further chances to form an expanding result; they do not make those requirements disappear. Legacy of Dead keeps the screen simple, but the selected symbol, its appearances and the active lines remain separate parts of the payout.

Can the bonus be retriggered?

Additional Tomb Scatters can land during free spins and award more spins. That means the feature does not have a fixed absolute length, although every retrigger still depends on new Scatters appearing.

The slot uses ten adjustable paylines. Reducing the line count changes total stake and coverage, so comparisons make the most sense when the bet per spin and number of active lines are both visible.

Reference figures

The commonly published reference RTP is 96.58%, with lower market-specific builds also found at operators. High volatility and a maximum win of 5,000 times the stake create a simpler risk profile than many modern feature-heavy games.

Play’n GO released the game on 2 January 2020 and identifies it as an Ancient Civilization video slot. The help screen in the opened version remains the source for its exact RTP and limits.

Strengths

  • The free-spin rule is easy to understand after one explanation.
  • Retriggers can extend a promising expanding-symbol feature.
  • Ten paylines keep the base layout uncluttered.

Weaknesses

  • The randomly selected special symbol can vary greatly in value.
  • Most of the distinctive potential sits inside free spins.
  • Lower RTP configurations exist in some markets.

Our Editor’s View

Legacy of Dead remains readable because it asks one central question: which symbol will be chosen to expand? The answer immediately changes the character of the bonus without adding a long list of modifiers. It is a direct fit for readers who want a traditional book-slot rhythm and a clearly defined feature goal.
